021: To know, or not to know.
Table of Contents
Hola Amigos,
This week, will be sharing some more goodness from the life less ordinary, and some recent travels to the South of Costa Rica - Dominical, Tinamaste, San Isidro General Area. The theme of this week is to be okay with "Not Knowing". In this case not knowing anything about this 100 acres property in the jungle, and going with curiosity (and experts) to find out more. It's important to investigate and learn vs just impose a vision or idea onto a property. Land stewardship is a dialogue between you and a property that you care for. So let's learn the various ways to listen and communicate, shall we? Oh yea, and have some very fresh designs for y'all this week!
Sometimes it's okay to dwell in the unknown, and stay curious. It scares the shit out of me, when I don't know something. I'm Ed, the guy who is supposed to know shit, so when I don't - its a funny feeling. But realizing that, it takes a lot of wisdom and humility, to admit when we don't know something. I'm curious to look at it with this lens and stay open to the possibilities and outcomes. I'm open to ask for support and other people's opinions which I value. And eventually to feel into my gut and make choices appropriate to my reality at the moment, with the best of what i've gathered and learned. And this takes time and patience. Which is why I always tell people - take it slow, and be okay with the unknown...
Love the Adventure of looking for alternative ways of living and beautiful properties to steward with people. No matter where it takes me, its never a dull moment in life :) Gracias a Dios!
Here's What I Want to Share This Week:
1. Land Planning: Topography, Land Analysis, and Bears.
Okay no bears, but there's a ton of things I love to do with people before they touch their land. The first is to PAUSE and study it. Bringing my main man Greiven, our engineer over, helps me understand a properties boundaries, topography, risks, advantages, legal situation, trees, soil, water run-off and much more...
Love all of my clients - but Jen & Britt + their 100 Acres Rock!
I can't stress how important it is to do these things in the right order. Get your Clarity and build your team, before touching the precious soil of mother earth amigos. Also then you don't get into a funk building stuff the wrong way and can have a plan, a budget, clarity on each step. And Greiven is one of many experts who help my clients and I with that process. Then you can plan well and build fun things like this - without losing your shirt or your mind hehe:
2. Taking the Leap and Making it Happen
Celebrating my friend Lisa Atia for taking the leap, coming to Costa Rica for a month (or more hehe) and starting to explore this country and how it she can utilize it as a base to create a positive impact in the world and on the world. Starting with her life first, so that her cup is full, before she goes and does the work of the Lord :)
Getting a long term car set up is key to exploring the jungle!
3. Designs that caught my eye this week!

Who We Are Celebrating This Week: Greiven Chacon Ramirez
This week I'm celebrating a key member of my team, Greyvin Chacón Ramírez - Engineer and overall Wizard when it comes to analyzing land. He also knows great places to eat along the ride out to properties in the middle of nowhere haha. His team comes out to study every inch of a property, do a detailed topographical analysis, GPS positioning, water run-off, soil studies and a ton of other stuff, that I see in a huge report after he leaves. This is one bad-ass hombre, who has saved my butt and my clients butts many times. He's also just an incredible human with a kind spirit, honesty and integrity before all else, and a fun person to be around. This week we tried to take a backroad to a property and ended up halted by a river and turning around, but the conversations we had in the car were well worth the detour! Grateful to be on the journey with people like Greyvin. If you need an engineer - just holler at me, we got ya covered amigos!
This Week's Curiosities
First Curiosity: It's a Ufo? Comet?
No it was my iphone camera moving hehe. This turned out cool anyway! I've been thinking about lighting lately and its effect on me. What reality do we experience? Lighting makes a space fun, and surreal sometimes. I started playing with it at my house. Fun.
Second Curiosity: Flowers are an amazing wonder
I buy myself flowers all the time people. But the kind that keep growing and growing each and every day :)
Third Curiosity: Weekly love from a man's best friend.
